While finance majors learn how to manage money, engineer majors learn how to create things, and education majors learn how to teach, philosophy majors learn important life skills. Rather than learning facts, we learn problem solving techniques. Other than doing really well on Graduate Admissions Tests, GREs, LSATa, and MCATs, philosophy students have higher than average skills in critical thinking, analytic reading, and logical processes. We are not only great at solving tough problems, we are also known for finding multiple solutions for them.
I plan to leverage my creative problem solving and critical thinking skills, applying them to whatever job I choose. These areas or talent are huge assets to me in everyday life, and will be uniquely advantageous to the career I will soon start.
