Camp Cody!

This summer (2014) I spent almost three months at summer camp.  I almost backed out, scared of what was to come, but I've never been a quiter, so I packed my bags and went to camp. It was the Best. Summer. Ever. Not only did I learn valuable life skills, make new friends, and impact the lives of children, but I grew exponentially as an individual.

Some things I did at Cody:

  • Instructed pottery classes
    • Created lesson plans
    • Taught co-counselors how to teach young children
  • Lived in a cabin
    • Took care of 15 girls with my 2 co-counselors
    • Made up games and team building activities
    • Braided a TON (probably literally) of hair
    • Supported girls through homesickness, injury, and personal issues
Some things I learned:
  • Braiding
  • Bracelet making
  • Handling limited resources (like time!)
  • Letting go of the small stuff
    • My schedule anxiety is gone!
  • Working with co-teachers
  • Going with the flow
  • How hard (and extremely rewarding) being a parent must be!
